In 2006, Kobe Bryant announced the launch of his
VIVO Foundation,
a charitable initiative dedicated to enhancing the lives of young people and
making dreams come true through educational and cultural enrichment opportunities
and financial support.
Projects include
Vivo Del Mondo, an international travel experience that offers deserving
high school and college students a unique and expanded context to think, question and
formulate their own beliefs about the world and discover and develop their life passions.
In August, a group of students affiliated with the Hispanic College Fund and Phase3 (an organization which trains African American youth to be leaders in the
classroom, community and workforce) traveled to Kobe's
childhood home of Italy to tour Rome, Florence and Venice. This year's plans include visits
to Hong Kong and a U.S. destination.
Vivo will also support educational initiatives in Los Angeles and Philadelphia and programs
that assist the families of men and women serving in our armed forces.
Additional information and updates on Vivo activities will be posted online in the coming
months.
